Roman Doric Columns

Roman Doric Columns

If you like the simply elegant form of the Greek Doric column, but require a column with a refined appearance, consider the Roman Doric. Unlike the Greek Doric, the Roman Doric column rests on a molded base and the shaft can be adorned with 24 crisp flutes, or left unfluted to meet your needs. Like the Tuscan, the Roman Doric features an astragal ring leading to a molded neck and molded square cap.

The architects of ancient Rome produced enrichments of the three primary Greek columns, with the resulting Roman Doric adding sophistication and contemporary style to the primitive Greek Doric. Today, the Roman Doric maintains its appeal as a stately enrichment for both exterior and interior spaces alike.
